Default Mufflers for '40 coupe

Got a set of Red's headers & exhaust extensions from Jim for the '40. What I would like to know is what mufflers fit in the X member with out cutting anything if possible, I used Mellow Tones from Mac van Pelt on the roadster, I liked the construction, fit and sound, plus made in USA. Anyone have experience they would like to share. Thank you Fordbarners.

I don't personally have these but heard the Reds headers with Brockman mufflers on Vic's car. Outstanding.

I currently have cherry bombs. Which sound good, but when the time comes to replace - I will use Brockman mufflers.

My concern is being able to fit the mufflers with the X member without cutting anything if possible. Thank you.

I believe Brockmans are custom made. Again no direct experience. Google them and give them a call.

ford tractor mufflers. I make my own pipes and change the ends on the mufflers. they are short and fit with the stock X member. look for the muffler for the Ford 600 tractor. the inlet outlet are larger then the 9N. cheap and last ones I got from tractor supply were still made in the USA. sound good behind a flathead

Mellow Tones are available in several lengths, or can be custom made to your specs.

Set of Brockman 17" body 24" overall should fit. Just ordered a set of 22" body ones yesterday. I asked for 1 3/4" inlet and outlet but he told me they only have 2"
Glass or steal pack is up to you. I went glass.

I used the 2" ones on my truck, made a reducer to neck down to 1 3/4". Good mufflers!

Thank you. That's good to know that they can make Mellow Tones the length you need. Another good reason to buy USA.
