Default spare tire carrier - pickup

My 31 CCPU was assembled from pieces/parts (late ’31 steel roof cab w/reproductionbed and fenders). It has 16” wheels and neither of the front fenders is welled. Bottom line, unless I lay one in the bed, I don’t carry a spare tire. Looking at all the space under the bed, aft of the rear cross-member, I am having a vision of a spare tire carrier slung under the bed. Have any of my fellow ‘barners built such?If so, could you post a photo or two?

About 40 years ago I had the same problem. My temporary repair was to install 3
Long carrage bolts thru the oak bed boars. The bolts had the same lay out as the wheel. I Installed a washer, lock washer, and a nut .For a wheel stop I installed double. Nuts. After supporting the spare tire I installed the last 3 nuts. I never installed the fender well. It's hard enough getting into the truck with out the spare tire. I have never seen another spare tire under mounted. I Can not send pictures I am on vacation in California. My 28 roasterp pick up is nset Philadelphia. Won't be home till March 9.

Check out this string, it has a couple of pictures of the spare mounted under the PU bed.

The AA flat beds use a fold down bracket that the tire sits on top of and then folded up and latched. do some research on the AA site for pictures and it might give you some ideas for a smaller version to fab up for an A.

There was a guy on our last Summer Tour that had built a carrier for under the bed, as I remember he used one he had taken from a small pickup. It cranked the wheel up into a hidden area so you didn't notice it from the rear.
