39/40 reverse eye and rubber block/disk
Hi
After reverse eye with tube shocks, do you remove the round rubber disk? There has been occasions where I hit bump and it hits frame.

Re: 39/40 reverse eye and rubber block/disk
maybe shorten a little but best not to remove it--it is the axle stop and with out it you could break the spring

If you prefer metal to metal contact, remove it.

Re: 39/40 reverse eye and rubber block/disk
J, that's funny. Alan, I have a 4 inch dropped axle in my 40 with 15 in. rims and tires that are 25.8 in. in dia. The axle just barely clears the rubber axle stops.
DO NOT REMOVE THEM. Last edited by 19Fordy; 05-10-2016 at 08:15 PM. |

Skid what did you use to cut 3/4" off? I'd like a good straight cut.

Use a hacksaw, put a hose clip around the rubber as a guide, and have at it with your hacksaw.

Re: 39/40 reverse eye and rubber block/disk
40cpe; With the Posey reversed eye spring and other changes my car has a radical rake. Chin pan is only 4 in. off the ground. It rides "stiff" and I go over speed bumps very carefully. Florida roads are very well maintained so I am fortunate not to have to tend with potholes. Maybe someday I'll reinstall the stock spring to raise it up an inch. I've had the car 53 years and really don't recall it being a "smooth rider" when stock.
