40 DeLuxe vs. 39 DeLuxe Hood

I have a 40 Sedan Delivery that someone de-trimmed, welded and leaded the hood. Would a 39 DeLuxe hood and grille fit without any problem ? How about the 39 hood and using a 40 Standard grille ? Thanks, Jeff

As I recall, the latch hardware is different on a 39 DLX and a 40 STND.

A '39 deluxe hood is completely different in shape to that of a '40 deluxe.
However, you could swap the grille and the hood without issue.

From his post, I assumed he wanted to use a 39 DLX hood, not a '40.

To expand on what Kube stated: The 1940 DELUXE hood mates ONLY to the 1940 DELUXE grille.


1939 Deluxe and 1940 Standard and 1941 Sedan Delivery hoods share the same base stampings but with different cutouts for trim, and can be interchanged with appropriate hole adding and filling.


A 1939 Deluxe grille/hood combination would be a bolt on modification to replace 1940 Deluxe... but the delivery would clearly be a modified 1940-41 (not that it would not look GOOD), as could a 1940 Standard or 1941 Sedan Delivery grille/hood combination.

I do recall early and late 39's having a different latch design. Thank You for the clarity men.
