Re: Spark plugs - what do you use?
When I said no difference in the originals and the reproductions I meant in performance not in the physical makeup !

Re: Spark plugs - what do you use?
Yes Mike, I just provided those two links for as much info and opinion as I could. Its interesting that the same club posted a differing opinion like that but I guess it was different authors, a Wayne and a Andy Wiedeman. I really don't have an opinion on what plug is best as I have only run the Champion W16Y.

Re: Spark plugs - what do you use?
I run a set of Wards NOS take a part plugs from the 30's that I purchased from a Barner, not good for fine points judging, however they work great, look good and seem to run better than the cheap modern plugs I was using.

Re: Spark plugs - what do you use?
My setup is far from stock but it may help someone in a similar situation...I'll be running an original Winfield 6:1 "yellow head" (milled .020"). I believe Mr. Winfield called for Champion 7 plugs for use with this head (1934-37 V8 plugs), but since I'm using a relatively small carburetor (Winfield SR-B), and may be running on the edge of a lean condition, I elected to go with the slightly cooler Champion 6 COM.
I believe the Champion 7 corresponds with the later D-16 and the 6 COM corresponds with the D-14 (IIRC, Jim Brierley uses the D-14 with a Winfield 6:1 head and similar-sized Stromberg carb). |

Re: Spark plugs - what do you use?
I've been using Champion W-16Y in my '30 coupe with no problems. They even look a little like the 3X.

Re: Spark plugs - what do you use?
I've used others on occasion, but always go back to 3X.
