Default Sta-Bil 360

Claims to prevent corrosion in the gas tank and fuel lines. 1 oz for every 5 gallons of gasoline. Do you think it will cause engine problems ? Appreciate your comments.

What's really funny/sad is that the product cost $20 to treat 60 gallons. The ethanol was supposed to be environmentally friendly but look at all the peripheral costs involved to use this green friendly ethanol.

I'm willing to try it. I use the regular Sta-Bil with every tank of gas on my Opel with Weber. Before I used it, every 500-1000 miles, the performance would drop due to a "varnishing" effect that clogged one of the idle jets from the Ethanol. Now, with Sta-Bil, I don't have the problem anymore. Since it appears to cost more than the regular Sta-Bil, perhaps I can alternate between the two products to save a penny or two.

Thanks for the feed back . So as far as anyone knows this product may or may not perform as advertised but WILL NOT HARM THE ENGINE .

I have noticed for many years now -- ever since ethanol in gasoline has become common -- on both my old cars and on my modern cars, a white chalky residue has formed on the inside of my metal gas caps. I had not seen that before, so I assumed it was from the ethanol. If it is on the metal cap, it is probably on the inside of the metal tank above the liquid level.

It sounds like this "corrosion" (if that's what the white chalky stuff is) is what this new fuel treatment is designed to stop.

Probably worth a try in a controlled experiment to see if this additive stops this.

Ethanol laden fuel is anything but environmentally friendly.

I'm not a big fan of Sta-bil. I've seen it separate in the bottle and not dissolve when mixed with the fuel. Don't know anything about this new product, but, stopping rust or corrosion within the tank has to be a good thing.

As far as fuel storage, ethanol doesn't store for chit and IS bad for small engines. When storing fuel I use non-ethanol with a fuel treatment [ I like Sea-Foam, it works].

When it was too hard to find non ethanol stuff, for years I used 100LL.

Hey Patrick L,
Boy , I guess that we have at least ONE good thing left on the left coast..i.e.- no ethanol..whoohoo,eh ! At least none that I have run into.
But, I still use the regular Sta-bil concoction ...in everything that is stored away for any amount of time. Experimentation/experience is that it works for stored fuel, IMO. Haven't tried the new version, and probably won't as that price , to me, is exorbitant

What 'iritates' me abut ethanol...is that WE subsidize the making of it !
