Default Re: No Compression in 3 & 4 Cylinders

When I am fitting a head gasket, graphite or copper, I use some Permatex copper head gasket sealer. I knowthings should be OK without it but I think it improves the job and adds confidence.
BTW, when you torque the head down, follow the directions. Once done, start the engine and let it run till it is up to operating temperature. Turn it off and let it cool. I leave it overnight. Retorque the nuts and you're ready to go but only for about 2-300 miles. After that mileage, retorque again. I like to do it again at about 1,000 miles and check regularly after that. I suspect this gasket blew because it tension wasn't checked often enough.
Just my 2c worth!
