transmission
Any0ne have experience in putting a 39 transmission in a model A ? I have two rebuilt 39 top loaders and have been contemplating on putting one in my Model A wondering if there is some input out there?

Search threads by Dusty. Thats the guy with the cool green fenders. He did a neat job installing a 39 transmission in his model A coupe .

Thanks Guys as I have the transmissions I'm thinking the Mitchel is nice but costly. I have a rebuilt engine of unknown origin (just purchased the A) the engine just does not feel right. very high degree of vibration. I plan to pull the transmission and check the flywheel also check the top bearing on the drive shaft and u joint. Compression is 100lbs with a high compression head. Has an FSI ignition. I have been playing around with the timing using a vacuum gauge and my ear. however I think the rough running is a static balance problem. May install the cut down flywheel clutch combo and the 39 top loader while it's apart the top drive shaft bearing. Never did a drive shaft bearing in an A will do some research first.

Yep the new models came out I guess!! LOL Have a very good offer going on my T not firm yet but promising. Still have a few horse wedding jobs to go and will shut that down after Christmas. John and I had a good chuckle over the A thing, funny all three of us converted. I still love my T's. Will be in touch, Frank
