Shoebox resources
My first time in the Early V8 group (usually in the Model A group) Just added my uncles 1950 Shoebox to my garage and looking for resources to learn from; any other websites or FB pages you would recommend?
THANKS |

Re: Shoebox resources
Shoebox-central.com.....Chris, knows a lot about these cars, has lots of parts. This site here probably has the most knowledge. Camaraderie on the FB site but some of the answers to problems I feel are just BS.......Mark

Re: Shoebox resources
Appears to have a 3-speed w/overdrive? Nice looking car! I have two shoebox Fords and use Shoebox Central for parts and knowledge. Good luck!

Yep 3 speed w/overdrive and thanks, my uncle did a fantastic job finishing this car about 10 years ago so now it's my turn to care for it and cruise!!! Thanks everyone for the resource pointers and I'm sure I will have plenty of questions sooner than later... |

Re: Shoebox resources
I really like the look of the chrome wheels and baby moon hubcaps on that car. That is a great looking car!

Re: Shoebox resources
Another vote for Shoe Box Central. They have parts for my '54 Ranch Wagon as well as Shoe Box's. Always happy with my dealings with them. JMO

Re: Shoebox resources
Great looking '50! As Ken asked, what is that just below the air filter? The Barn is the best place for answers and advice. I visit some of the FB shoebox sites, but I see a lot of inexperienced guys giving (wrong) advice to other inexperienced guys. Oh, and we love pictures.

Re: Shoebox resources
Thanks again for the complements and help. My uncle made an "engine cover" but one of the first things he said was "you can take it off if you want." may may not it is how he liked it so will keep it the way it is for now...
Lots to learn and enjoy; took GGMA cruizin yesterday. Think she had a few flashbacks!! Happy to have a non ethanol fuel source nearby. |

Re: Shoebox resources
Beautiful. Is it black? Or Sheridan blue, like mine was originally. I like the Facebook sites along with Ford Barn. Just have to separate the wheat from the chaff. Shoebox Fords, Flatheads Forever, and The Flat Spot. Get the "Green Bible" shop manual if you don't have it already. The original chassis parts catalogs are around on ebay, great resource. Vanpelt sales is a good source of info. Here's mine. PS, I've always disliked the term shoebox, works better with the tri-five chebbies, but it is what it is.

Re: Shoebox resources
The very first car I ever owned was a ‘50 Ford 2 door sedan purchased for $5.00 in 1964.

Re: Shoebox resources
I vote for Concourse too. I use them for many projects. I also have a 51 Ford 2 door for sale $3500.00. Ask if interested. Nice car you have. Thanks Scott

Re: Shoebox resources
Ok Concourse and Vanpelt Sales as well as Flatheads Forever, and The Flat Spot have been added to the resource list.
THANKS again for all the great comments and for those asking the car is Sheridan Blue with gray interior paint and upholstery with grey/blue/green striped fabric seat. |
