Re: 1928 ford roadster on CL
This looks like the scam described in the link on Fordbarn below. The price is far below a decent roadster, which it appears to be, would typically sell for. The text is quite similar to the ones in the CL listing in the link below, which have all been removed. I am 99.9% sure the Craigslist listing is a scam. I live in the Mpls area. I might mess with the seller some for a little fun. Asking questions like putting more pictures of the car in the listing. Check the listing in a few days and I think you will find:
This posting has been flagged for removal. for the listing. Rusty Nelson https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...scam&showall=1 |

Re: 1928 ford roadster on CL
I suspect some novice/trusting person that is kind of clueless about model A's (the very low price), but wants one, sees the ad and believes the ad is on the level. The scamster sweet talks the trusting person into Western Union wiring funds to buy the car. Of course the buyer never hears from the scam seller again, but the money is gone. I have heard of these scams working. Most people are trusting and most people are honest. However, in this day and age, there are more crooks among us than in older days. To bad there are dishonest people among us, but there are - beware.

Re: 1928 ford roadster on CL
I always stay away from ads that don't include a phone number. I want to talk to a human on the phone. IIRC, I saw the same ad posted on Craigslist in a major western city as well.

Re: 1928 ford roadster on CL
OK, I responded to one of the Scam ad's in the Fordbarn post. This does not have the same look. May still be a scam, but that one pitched as a widow moving and needing to unload the car. Specifics to that scam are talking about going through ebay motors. they are looking to get someone to buy it without looking at it and "Escrowing the payment to what they believe is an EBAY service. I would answer the ad asking for details and more pictures. If the answer sounds like someone who knows the car, probably legit. In my case the ad was for a roadster pickup and they sent photos of a roadster. Key is to ask them when you can drop by and see it. scam won't answer. I am a Fraud examiner by training. Scam for you buying is usually trying to get you to send money without seeing item. Usually sounds like they are ALL about safety...escrow or otherwise. Buying they want to sent you more than the part is worth and sent them back the extra. Or they are hoping you will send the part before the fake money order clears.
