I bought a new Optima 6v battery a few weeks ago, and it appeared to have been on the shelf "awhile". I have read here and elsewhere that in the recent past Optima changed the physical dimensions a bit. I believe this came up in discussions about the old appearing battery cases that are available to cloak the Optimas..........which is what I intend to do. Does anyone have the particulars on this?? Does battery height measurements pertain to the case or up to top of posts?

All I can tell you is that I spent quite a bit of time with a small grinder getting the Optima to fit in the case in a way that was satisfactory to me.

I bought mine less than a year ago. Fit fine, just dropped in and covered.

So, ........can anyone confirm that the Optima dimensions are the same as always or did it get a little taller or ???

I think they stamp a code on the case to tell the year and month when it was made. I saw a youtube video that showed a number starting with 6J = 2016 and J is 10th letter in alphabet so 10/2016. Another battery had G5... so year = 2015 and G is 6th letter so 06/2015.

Does it not make sense that CURRENT could only be 6E? 6J would only be valid in LaLa Land........so far! DD
