Default Cabinet delivery

I recently was asked to help a friend install some kitchen cabinets. Lowes would have delivered them but they couldn't give an exact time. My regular truck stays full of junk plus it has a cap and the weather wasn't too bad so I volunteered the A pickup. It's good to take it out occasionally throughout the year.

I love seeing these trucks working for a living. If your truck just sits in the garage, you might as well not own one. There, I said it.

Sadly, Your gesture of kindness and compassion for your fellow man, would be illegal in Kalifornia for any number of reasons.

Here, even Bank Robbers have to apply to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles for a permit to drive a Get-a-way car ! And the the Get-A-Way car has to meet certain DMV guidelines and the be further approved by the California Highway Patrol.

Great, That is what Henry Ford made them for. I am sure Henry has a smile in heaven about this. How many Thumbs up did you get?

There is still an ongoing discussion about whether Henry is really in heaven or not, BTW. (Smiley face insert here)

I use mine for the same thing all the time. I also have old style hemp rope to tie down the load. You get a nice smooth ride too.

Doug, Since I also live in California and own a 1931 RDPU I would like to know why it would be illegal? The vehicle code, the last time I looked, said you could have passenger plates on a commercial vehicle prior to 1936 but was silent on whether you could carry anything in the bed with passenger plates. You also have the option of running commercial plates on pre 1936 trucks (I always wondered why). There might be a problem if your insurance was void if carrying anything and thus you vehicle would not be insured making it illegal. What were you thinking about?

Charlie

Charlie, I would like to answer your question, but wanting to keep this thread going in the direction to which it first started (I have already transgressed with my initial post, #6) , and to avoid transgressing further into "posts that turn political", I will save the discussion about excessive use of Kalifornia's State Power for a PM discussion that will not clutter up the direction of this thread.

Let's just say that IF Kalifornia wanted to 'push the issue' , with it's 47,000 pages of rules, regulations, ordinances, laws, required permits, etc. etc., it would have no problem in doing so.

In my post # 6 comment, the second paragraph was meant to show the comment's 'tongue-in-cheek' nature with my imaginative Bank Robber scenario.
I am sorry if you missed the mitigation and felt a specific legal answer was in order.

And for those of you who are planning a Bank Robbery, I should tell you that, contrary to what I wrote in Post # 6, you will be glad to know that you DO NOT need a special "Bank Robber" permit, nor do you need a DMV approved 'Get-A-Way' car. You are free to use what ever vehicle you chose.

P.S. - I just learned how to use the little icons found on the right side of the Posting Window. and too, now I see, at the bottom of the Posting window.

My Mom loved antique auctions. I used to have a 30 CCPU and one day she called me to haul an old cupboard she bought. The truck made a bigger hit with the audience than any of the other antiques at the sale.
