Default Turn signal mounting options

A recent post about turn signals is timely for me as I'm getting ready to make alterations for easier and safer driving of my '29 CCPU. I'm curious how most of you set the column mount up, it seems awkward to me to have two levers (turn and advance) so close to each.

Weighing some options:
Shorten my advance lever
Go to a seat riser push button select (rather not)
Upgrade to a modern advance dist. and loose the lever (but advancing down
while idling to hear the engine exhaust is one of my fav things about the "A")

What do you guys do?
