46 rear backing plate & model a axle
trying to put '46 ford brake backing plate on my "A" axle and the large hole in the center of the backing plate doesn't quite fit flat on the model A axle. do I have to enlarge the hole to fit over the flange on the axle? some suppliers have an adapter kit that includes a ring that fits over the axle flange, but it looks to me that it would be better to enlarge the hole to help center the plate on the axle. the mounting bolt holes do line up.
thanks rer_139 |

Re: 46 rear backing plate & model a axle
Normally the backing plates on the rear are rotated because of interference with either the spring perch or shock knob. FWIW

The plates are many times rotated because the shock ball interferes with the backing plate seating against the flange. The spacer ring kit you mentioned is for use on pre '37 front spindles. |
