Default Help! upper Front door bracket

Any of you guys that have had fordor doors apart (Maybe tudors too) We're talking about the upper front bracket that has two wood screws on the side, that attach to the top piece of wood. I wish I could show a pic! This piece is above the top hinge and it's kept in the door frame with rivets?, spotwelding?, How? I need to replace the top piece of door wood and get this bracket out for dimesions and fitting and I can't see how without cutting or mangling the door. Any tips? Thanks in Advance!
