Default Awe aint she pretty?

After 4 years the restoration still looks good as new. It's been a wet summer up here in Minnesota and the season been a little lousy to get out and put any miles on this year. We've probably only put on 1000 mile this summer compared to 3000 last summer. This photo is of my wife holding a 1st place trophy from the Pantowners Car Show in St Cloud MN this past weekend. It's weird, when we first built the truck we bought a trailer to take it to shows. It hasn't seen the trailer other than during the winter months because it gets stored in there in the barn. It only went to 2 shows in the trailer and hasn't seen the inside since and we've shown it probably 30 times and drive on trips around Minnesota all the time. My opinion is if you built it once, you can fix it again. Just keep the insurance paid on it. Happy motoring -Mike

And Now!

Thanks guys. It's always nice to get a little recognition from a group who know what it takes to build and maintain these things. And Lanny thank you for enlarging the photo. I don't know how you did it but it's appreciated.

When you first said "Awe aint she pretty?" I wasn't sure who or what you were referring to.The truck, the wife, or the dog. But to look at this picture, it doesn't matter there all pretty. Nice job!!! Good luck with all of them.

I gotta admit mine has her knucklehead days. But usually I'm the knucklehead and she's sitting there looking at me with that look they can get when they know better. She learned it from my wife. Would it be to pretentious of me to post more pictures of the truck. You know the custom leather interior, inlayed bed wood, and the 46 flathead and a picture of what a piece of junk she was before we started. I know the truck is far from stock but we upgraded some of it to make it keep up on the highway and a little more comfortable when riding. And of course a little bling never hurts an old girl too. It would be a couple days before I could do it, but I'm so proud of these 3 girls I can't help myself. Oh did I mention I've got a "married" daughter. She's into the truck deal but her husband is into, you know, dare I say it? GOLF! There I said it don't hate me. And I've got two sons neither married and there barely into anything but making a living. Thanks everyone for your great comments.

Great looking pickup! It certainly disproves the "all-38's-are-ugly" theory. Congrats on a job well done.

A truck as nice as yours ought to be shown at all angles so please post more pics. Your paint scheme is very cool and it's what makes the 38' stand out from the crowd.

Wolfe, she's that pretty after 33 years of marriage. I should have weathered as well. Phil, when my wife first suggested the paint scheme I told her I thought it would look pretty nasty, I'm sure glad she persevered. It's some kind of Garnet Red and Gunmetal gray. She picked similar colors out of a ford paintchip book from 1938 and our Paint guy (that's right I didn't paint it, actually I flunked fingerpainting when I was a kid) matched it and added some other goodies to it. I got to do all the work on the chassis and everything that made it go down the road but my wife picked out how the body and interior stuff was handled. And please don't anyone give me to much grief about the deluxe car hubcaps that are on it. We've got the original caps all painted and shined up too, but because this truck had a "dealer deluxe" package on it when it was sold originally we went ahead and put the deluxe caps on. The deluxe package from 1938 included chrome grille, chrome window surround and sliding glass back window. This truck also had chrome bumpers and door handles but they may have been stock in '38 anyway. It's just that I'm getting so old I can't remember.
