The exterior color is more or less correct for '35, unfortunately the interior and rumble seat upholstery color is way off the original. It's more like that for a '36 roadster.


We know nothing of the body, especially the floor which is a weak sport in '35s and '36s, often rusted out and patched up. On the other hand, perhaps it was a bargain.

From what I am hearing it was more the “condition”. I heard it did not show very well “in person”, very orange peely paint, etc etc so sounds as if water found its correct level!!!

I watched random parts of that auction yesterday. Sat through a few hours of extremely valuable muscle cars that put me to sleep. I'd rather own that '35 than a garage full of '70s muscle'. What's wrong with people?

Sounds exactly like how I like them. Damn, a '35/'36 roadster is going to be my next purchase. I need to keep an eye out for these types of deals.

Just my .02¢ What I have noticed about our hobby is a generational downturn in values. When I started putting the 49 together in the 80s model A's and T's were going for premium money. Now it's pretty hard to give them away relatively speaking.
I think the same is going to happen as our generations get older. The 30s cars are starting to become more affordable, the 40s are becoming cheaper and so on eventually into the muscle cars.
Watching the Meecham auctions there is no way many of those cars could be put together for the price they're bringing over the auction block.
My nephew is putting together a 1968 Hellcharger. Found his high school car and bought a low mile wreak Hellcat. He figures he will be into it in the $150 to $170 K range.
I saw one cross the auction block 2 weeks ago for about $110,000. And it looked like a well turned out restorod.

I have a friend who just sold his 35 3 window for $90,000 on Bring a Trailer. Exceptionally well done car with a 221 V-8 with Eddie Meyer heads and a Columbia 2 speed. Quality still brings the money.

Maybe BAT & “some” on Ebay are the opposite end of the spectrum from this car here in that “maybe” the acorn found the “one” blind hog…..or a little more direct and less flattering….”A fool and his money”. $90,000 for a 35 Roadster is pretty nuts……no matter how nice and gussied up…..JMO.

Just like down here, just saw a guy with a 61 Ford two door with a hopped up 390 with 4 spd for sale. $75,000. On the one hand I say this guy is “insane”, THEN Barrett Jackson or “others” step up and prove me wrong…OR at least prove the “acorn found the blind hog theory…..BUT no 61 Ford ever made is worth $75,000….again JMO.
