Re: battery
Stay with 6 volt. 8 volt is a waste of money with no benefits except more potential problems. Read about it here:
https://www.google.com/search?q=is+a...hrome&ie=UTF-8 Better to convert to 12V if you decide to change. |

Six volt, as one of the Henry's intended.

Re: battery
Stay with a 6 volt Optima. 8 volts is no good. One problem is it
burns out light bulbs. Also need a different coil resister. G.M.

Re: battery
From almost everything I have read you should stay with the 6 volt. If you have problems fix them instead of patching them. Search the archives.

Re: battery
The right size battery cables are very important and as stated above .....connections need to be clean and tight...especially grounds.....got any pictures of your car??......Mark

Re: battery
Go to Napa & get a 6volt commercial batt. Then make sure you are putting out around
7 to 7.5 volts (thats the middle one on the regulator) with a voltmeter while running engine above idle. And then I see a fresh engine. They will be a little stiff so put some miles on it. So I have been accused by my friends going to 12 vt? Nope; 6vts. As fast as I push start button its running not even one turn, why cause its correct. I know I ramble but think of someday 70yr old Toyota, no way it will ever make it. So I say grounds and cable problems ? just buy a big motor yacht likely a mile of ground wires and most are all green corroded and this is only like 5-10 yr old boat. Local welding supply get cables there. When I had good bones we had a 53 foot Huckens with two 6-71 Detroits. both engines required two 001 cables to starter and two 001 cables for ground & to two D8 commercial batterys . I am only trying to say no need for 8vts. I am saying at my age we lived with 6vts the coldest snow days and always got to school even with vac. wipers. with a (1939 Dodge school bus) 1953 all new Dodge Job Rated busses wow! we now have heat !!!
