Default 1938 Ford V8 6 Volt Charging Pict?

Before I screw this up I decided to do the smart thing for once and ask the pros! I have searched, read and dug but I can't seem to find any REAL pictures of a 6V, +Ground charging system. Lots of schematics, text et. but no picts. Here is what I have wired up currently. The engine has run without the charging system wired, now I want to

take the next step. I wired this per an online colored schematic that was as close to what I have as I could find. Is this wired correctly? I also ran across this on this site (Tells me I might have a problem already?)****"The generator "G" ground wire should never be connected to Battery on the regulator...that's going to be big trouble and is an obvious misprint".

You most definitely do not want the generator ground hooked to the battery terminal of the regulator. That will be a direct short that melts wires as soon as the battery cables are hooked up. Grounding the gen to the regulator mounting bolt on the firewall is fine.

OK, thanks Terry! This was the schematic I used. The Grnd from Gen. looks like it goes to the Batt. Terminal on the Regulator but it must mean just ground it to the Reg. Base?!

38 did not use a voltage regulator. The generator had a cut out mounted to the top.

G on the generator is ground, note on your wiring diagram it's wire goes to the mounting frame of the regulator plus the frame has a second wire going to a good ground point. The rear terminal on the Gen is Armature.

Yep, that's what they meant but the pic sure isn't very clear is it?

Correction: Radio equipped '38s were fitted with regulators.
Early generators did not have a designated ground point, but were grounded from the rear assembly bolt.
