Re: 1946 6 cylinder wagon production
I have owned and researched "Woodies" for what seems like forever and have about two dozen "Woodie" books. The only record of 6 cylinder vehicles I have ever come across is that in 1942 Ford produced 567 DeLuxe, (not Super Deluxe) wagons. There is some debate as to if these cars were sold to the public or sold to the military. The totals I have listed for 1946 only show Model 69A-79B (V-8) and Model 6GA-79B (6 cyl.) as 16,920 total production. If you ever find out the numbers, let us know.

I have a 47 conv with a G number. Do not know if the frame was changed but the frame number matches the title.

Re: 1946 6 cylinder wagon production
My Woodie has the G in the frame number, Battery box on driver side, and horns mounted on passenger side splash apron. With the frame number I come up with a late 46 or early 47. Park lights are on top of fenders. Title is for a 46. Still searching for the number of woodies that came with the early 6 cly G engine. Thanks for all who responded or who have given me where to go next.
Respectfully, Paul |

Re: 1946 6 cylinder wagon production
Because of an overstock of 1946 vehicles and a late delivery date of 1947 vehicles, Ford "titled" all January "Woodies" from serial no. 19758 thru 21938 and February cars from serial no. 21939 thru 24118 as 1947 vehicles. Some dealers had an over stock that may have lasted until April. I have poised the six cylinder question to a couple of other "Woodie" people and no one seems to know the answer. Why don't you send the question into the "Woodie Times", the magazine issue by the National Woodie Club?

Seems like a good idea. I know the NWC has a large collection of woody archives. BTW, there were some '51 woodies built with the "H" six cyl. motor.......Bob L |
