V8 Service Bulletins
In My stash of Ford stuff I found some old service bulletins from the good old days. Since I have been mesmorizied by my 11A distributor I recorded the following:
The ford system is designed to work on 4 volts At maximum compression speeds, the current in the secondary is reported to be 0.5 ma. Maximum compression is defined as hard acceleration at low speeds. At higher speeds, compression is lower and so is secondary current. Before any tests are done, the coil should be energized for 5 minutes to "gently" warm up the coil. Points need to be closed the bulletins advise. If there is a coil problem that creates "stumble", the coil can be changed depending on the owners driving habits. I will report more as I find them. |

Re: V8 Service Bulletins
The information contained in your post represents perhaps 1/1000th the total excellent information in the Service Bulletins, and addresses maybe 1000 or more posts here on the Barn.

Re: V8 Service Bulletins
I have a book of service bulletins and read daily. Great information! If only I could remember all the "stuff". I keep it handy at my reading station.

oldford2: I agree. That's a great book and well worth the price.
