This is the car when purchased by skimmerbobs dad in the 60s:

Skimmerbobs dad bought this 29 ford model A tudor in the 60s when skimmerbob was a kid. His father who orginally purchased the car in the 60s passed on this january, and he has now assumed the model A project as his own.

We are moving the parts to complete the rolling chassis from skimmerbobs dads garage, to his own garage to assemble the chassis. Bodywork will be done, then body set on frame. There is hope to have this thing rolling this year. I have only helped with moving parts for the car from garage to garage, but hope to help with assembly soon.

This is what it looks like now:

The brake backing plates have been assembled, and will be installed soon. We hope to be able to roll it in and out of the garage within the next few weeks.

I hope you checked the frame for sag, most are bent down at the rear motor mounts.
Car is looking good so far. You Dad would be proud.

Would it be obvious to the naked eye? How do you check? Straight edge?

I would support the frame under the front and rear axles, then check for sag. Just use a long straight edge or pull a string tight along the top of the frame. As George mentioned, the frame usually has a sag and I find it's usually about 1/4" to 1/2" low at the rear motor mounts area.

I restored my dad's Tudor after his death a few years ago, and have great pride, yet great sadness that he is unable to see the finished project.
I think about him everytime I drive it and suspect that you too, will think of your father as the miles pass in your car.

Skimmerbob made some progress on the brakes and a few other parts. We will be posting pics up this weekend. He also had a change in work schedule, so he has more time.

Some items to look for:

Look for the assembly plant number and code;

Look for original engine number on the frame;

Look for a gas tank date on the upper firewall of the gas tank.

To find these...go to website www.plucks329s.org then go to Additional Data then go to Letters, Numbers and Codes to see where on your car these numbers and codes are.

Also, if the car was assembled in the Twin Cities, there should be a letter and number on the right rear of the rear crossmember to indicate the body style and spring to be used on the frame. My 1928 Phaeton has "P8" for Phaeton 8 leaves. My 1929 Tudor has "T0" for Tudor 10 leaf.

If is hard to see with naked eye. So run a line from the front (radiator) to back cross member or you could use a straight board. This would show the sag if any. Body shops can do the work for you or there are some post on this site that give you ideas on how to do it. You will be glad you did when you try to line up your hood later.
