Default Collector Cars as a source of Tax Revenue

First off.... I am not posting this to make any political statement or comment... We antique/collector car owners are in the crosshairs.

see this link to an article in the March 28 New York Times.

http://www.saac.com/files/newsletter...s-04-01-11.pdf

PLESE DISREGARD THIS POST!! MIKE IS RIGHT IT IS BOGUS! THANK GOODNESS!

The article is bogus. I did a complete search of the New York Times website and asked a family member to look at his copy of the Monday March 28, 2011 (and Tuesday March 29th) New York Times and there is NOTHING there.

So, it makes one wonder what's the motive of such a 'crafty' little story?

A quick internet search and you find the first 25 hits (google) are from 'car related' websites and forums with the exact same PDF file from SAAC. I'm guessing, but cannot confirm that this is an attempt at an April Fool's Joke.

At the risk of becoming political "Trust but verify" and in this case the verification efforts bring out another quote from CarTalk (Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers) BO-o-o-o-o-o-o-o- GUS!

Trust me [this is not a political statement from me] l.o.l. "BUT" i have post this kind of story in the past and about raising the REG.FEE for old collector cars. The late Al Lapore said to me that a group of car clubs in Conn. got together to pay a lobbiest to fight the state of Conn from raising the REG. FEE from $50.00 to $ 500.00 per year. per car! So Living in N.Y.Sate for 51 years ,anything that deals with {ChuckYou Schumer} i will not count it out! Thats why in the past few years over 100,000,people move out of N.Y. per year.

Mike,
I'm glad you nailed it, because the paper also said, "Polka Dancers have lower rates of Colon Cancer." I was just about to dump the Model A before taxes went up and join the Polka circuit. Wheeu!

I spend more time in my consulting business debunking these email hoaxes than I want to. Every week I get a " Congress is taking away your guns or taxing your pets" email chain message. When you have company CEO's calling you on the weekend saying "Is this true" messages it does get tiresome. My counsel on these is always step back and ask does this make sense? Does this sound right?
Common sense is always the best approach.

Common sense might work for the lady in Africa who wants to give me a gazillion dollars because I'm such a nice guy but when it comes to our elected officials, well I'm not surprised anymore!

Chuck Schumer is personally responsible for 1.3 million people moving out of NY? That is, indeed, impressive. Also, political.

We get a lot of people moving into South Dakota. They just love the Black Hills. They build "architecture in your face" houses and usually on some mountain top. Then they light them up at night so you see how successful they have become day and night. Then they start wanting to change everything so it is the way they did it back east. They bring their problems with them and try to force their values on the locals.

South Dakota is have a strong and stringent imigration law and stop this from happening.

It was done pretty well, except for the color picture. I don't remember the times running color pics but still done well.

The photo looks like one I submtted at Vanderbilt Museum.
I sent it to Long Island Corvette Club which I believe was involved in the hoax.

I believe the picture is from a promotion for the Greystone Mansion Concours. The Greystone Mansion belonged to the Doheny family--one of the major figures in early southern California history. The mansion now belongs to the City of Beverly Hills and the concours is one of their fund raising efforts to maintain the mansion.

I have spent a lot of time filming at Greystone over the years. That definitely is it.
