1940 Ford windshield wiper towers
I know there are left and right wiper towers for a 1940 Ford.
However I don’t see any difference between them. Is there an easy way to tell them apart?

Usually, the linkage is integral of the transmission. The left assembly utilizes the shorter of the two arms (links). Open car transmissions will have a "39" cast on the bottom. Closed car transmissions will have a "40" cast on the bottom.
