This is the Brewster Green I was thinking of.
This is the shade I had in mind, but apparently it is of a later flavor? Once again, guidance from the experts would be appreciated.

Brewster green is basically black with a green tint...very dark. In direct sunlight you can see the green, in the shade it looks black.
Check the MAFCA or MARC sites for a photo, I think from the Geo. Washington chapter in VA. courtesy of Chuck Shaw. |

Re: This is the Brewster Green I was thinking of.
Greg have you really come this far without buying a Model A colour chart?
Do you travel in far off countries without a map as well? I have the MAFCA paint & finish guide 2nd edition open on the colour charts and I can't see anything which really matches your picture. I suppose Dawn Gray Dark or maybe Aqua Green is kinda close.... Brewster green is a million times darker...the chip looks black when I take it outside on this bright, cloudy day.... so forget about that one! Consider ordering a Paint & finish guide Greg, so you can relax and pick the colour you like from the dozens of chips featured. (There's now an updated version to my 2nd version by the way) Also you might find a colour you like which is correct for your car's yr. and body style....a consideration for most restorers and many buyers.... If you want to know the correct colours used by Henry...tell us your specs and I'll post the choices. Good luck. |

Greg, if you are not building a fine point car, then find a green you like, ask the owner for the paint code, and paint your car. There are so many variations of green out there. I thought I had a Brewster Green paint picked out, and when the car was done it was lighter then I thought it would be. I like the color, but I wish it was darker.

One can't tell for sure from computer pictures as the monitors distort colors. Go for what you like as there are many variations for all A colors even when mixed by the formulars provided.

Re: This is the Brewster Green I was thinking of.
Hey Mot thanks for posting the authentic colour chip
It looks dark, just like in the mafca paint & finish guide. #1 Does your chart have a second version of Brewster? ... as alluded to in previous threads? #2 Can you tell us any more about your original Ford colour charts? I would love to find original colour chips... Regards Craig in BC |

Re: This is the Brewster Green I was thinking of.
When looking at dark color chips, have the chip surrounded by something shiny black. Cut a hole in a piece of metal and paint the rest black.

Re: This is the Brewster Green I was thinking of.
Just how many "OFFICIAL" paint codes, mixing numbers, whatever you want to call them are there? I'd like to see 6-10 shops mix a quart of any "OFFICIAL" color other than black, have 6-10 people shoot a test panel and see how many match.

Re: This is the Brewster Green I was thinking of.
If I'm not mistaken there were two different shades of brewster green offord by ford. My coupe was painted the lighter earlier shade of brewster and Ken Davis' A400 is the darker color

My 30 coupe is painted with the lighter Brewster green - IM 1017. I believe the darker blackish Brwester green is IM 1247 if I remember correctly.

Re: This is the Brewster Green I was thinking of.
When I painted my '31 Vicky, i went to the PPG store and found they had two "Brewster Greens". One was just "Brewster Green" and the other was "Brewster Green Medium". I had the store mix a free sample pint of each, and used each as a first coat on the two halves of the underside of the hood. Took them out into full sun and chose the darker. The one I did not choose was close to "Elkpoint Green".
I used PPG Concepts, single stage.
