Default 66-A Deluxe Pickup on ebay

Have you all seen this yet?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1931-...ht_1556wt_1182

Would it be possible to fabricate a bed or will it have to stay this way?

All you'll need is money, one to copy from and or orig plans. As stated quite rare. For me, buy it for what it is, steel top, indent with the wrong bed on it and get a wide bed and install. JMO He's thinking it's worth a lot because of what it WAS, but it ISN'T what it was.

So where is one photo of any proof that this is a 66-A deluxe delivery?

Loads of pickups have stainless shells headlights and cowl lights

most the victims of over restoration in the past!!! mine included

If he's right maybe there are 2-3000 left of the 200 made in the first place

Ha Ha

Mine too!

When I first saw mine, it was reported as the "Deluxe 66-A". It did have the stainless shell (even though it was a '30), but no cowl lights, black headlight buckets (mounted on a '29 headlight bar), and narrow bed. The seller backed off the "Deluxe" claim when I called him on it. I still got a nice truck, but it's definitely not a 66-A.

You can see where the original 66A bed bolted to the back of the cab.
Years ago someone did reproduce a couple of the bodies

I have scrolled down and seen the other photo's
.
one picture of the holes drilled in the panel behind the door

Maybe this was a cab off a AA service car and someone wanted a pickup

so put it on a car chassis could be that's the story behind it.

It will make a nice project for someone as what is there looks preety solid

If you look at the pictures the passenger side shot shows four vertical holes on the back corner of the cab...

Yet, there is a picture of the Driver's side (that is rotated 90 degrees the wrong way, I corrected the image below) that does not show holes...

I agree that the holes are there. I agree that it might have ONCE been a rare truck, but the "rare" part is not there. The more common parts ARE there.

Tim,I think the holes are there, just fudged up.Look at the circular rings in the primer, the metal has rusted around them, but the filler is clear. Also,in the first picture the hole halfway down looks like it has had the filler knocked out of it.I had to stare at the pictures for a while until those circles of filler jumped out at me.So,without the right bed, just what does the DeLuxe pickup have to make what's left into anything special? A row of holes and a piece of wood? It's not like a muscle car that has numbers to make it special. It looks like a nice solid truck to start with though,it would sell for $6500.here without a problem.

The owner said the holes were plugged.
"The previous owner knew what it was and was very careful to point out that he filled the holes in the cab corners where the original bed bolted to the cab. I removed the body filler on one side and left the other so new buyer could in fact verify it is the real deal."

I remember when the reproduction boxes were advertized in Hemmings, guess there wasn't a big market for them. Bob

Everything on the bed is different ... Rear door and hinges and hardware, top side chrome rails and post .just the whole bed is shaped different. Good luck making a bed today... $$$$$$$..In the Model 'A' News Jan. Feb. 1988 On the cover and a short story ,,Frank Soden restored one[the Gray one].Seen that truck twice... Super .292 built in all.

Why would a buyer care if this vehicle was once a 66-A. The 66-A body is gone or never was there. Consequently it is not a 66-A now and not worth any more than a standard pickup.

If someone were to recreate the bed how would the judging standards handle it? If it was accurately replicated and assuming the cab is an original 66-A, could it be judged as original?

My understanding is if the judges can,t tell the differance on a repo part from an original then it would receive full points in that section, There are some very good repo parts , which most could not tell the differances, Oweners are encouraged to enter thier vehicles into judging , if a part is incorrect & noted then owner might change the repo for the orig one, Derek from cloudy NZ Trying to put a new 4 post hoist together with no help.
