1928-31 Fordor help
Okay, so now I have a 1931 Fordor body that has no sub frame. Searching high and low for a supplier that sells a sub frame for this body. I’m told [by a guy at work] that all 1928-31 Fordors has a wood sub frame, since these bodies were not made by Ford, but by Murray & Briggs. Is this true? Since I need to fabricate my own rails, I’m thinking of using 1” x 3” or 1” x 4” rect. Tubing. If I go this route, how thick? Also where can I locate dimensions for a fordor sub frame? Thank you, thank you, for any direction on this.

Each piece that you need plans for is at the Bensen Research Center in Dearborn. Making your own is not that difficult, ...just time consuming. . |

Re: 1928-31 Fordor help
Brent this is exactly what I needed to see. I already have the wood kit for the body, it is the sub frame that I will fabricate. I went to that site, but I'm not sure exactly what I'm searching for, is there a specific title?

Brent....one important factor...some people have knowledge and talent...and many think they do !! I can relate to my experience in judging. I could spot homemade top bows from twenty feet..three times I was wrong because the restorer had TALENT & KNOWLEDGE.
