53 holes
Took this photo at the shop the other day, 53 EXTRA holes in the firewall for my '31 Victoria; and none of them done by a .22 or any other firearm. Of course the big one for the heater won't be necessary in San Diego.

Re: 53 holes
Are those stretch marks in the center just below the terminal block? I've never seen anything like them on an A firewall.

Re: 53 holes
I had 21 extra holes in my firewall and wondered if that was high.
Now I know. Terry in KB |

Re: 53 holes
Ive a few spare in mine, and had thought of asking if someone would be kind enough to post a pic of an original one with factory holes only, so i know which ones to fix. Some are a no brainer, while im not sure on others.

Here is a pic of my sons fire wall; and there were more behind the tank where the photo does not show.

Re: 53 holes
Today I spotted a perfect firewall and 1930 gas tank, and asked how much it was. "Just sold it 5 minutes befor you got there" was the reply. How much I asked. "I didn't want to take it home, I got $40.00 for it." I'm still kicking myself for somehow loosing 5 minutes, chatting or buying a cup of coffee, big loss that I'll add to my list.

Re: 53 holes
When my friend in Pt Arthur, Texas pulled what is now my coupe (see avatar) out of a hunting reserve in south Texas the car had several hundred bullet holes in it. It was used for target practice. Countless hours of welding, metal working and metal filling to get her to present and now bet you cant find the bondo with a magnet. Joe did a supberb job. ken

Re: 53 holes
Any idea what all those holes were for? (Apart from the big one, of course).
After I started working on my car, I was very pleased to discover that its firewall had zero user-installed holes. Doug

Re: 53 holes
Doug, I was told the original owner worked in the early aero-space business, up in Palmdale / Lancaster California. There were any number of "wierd" aero type fasteners in the holes. He had a radio, speakers & other gauges fastened there according to the man I bought it from. The best was the 12" & 8" hole cut in the floor pan behind the driver's seat; it supposedly had a shallow sheet metal box hung there, where he hid his bottle of "medicine". I luckily was able to find another Victoria pan, so that one went to the swap meet, where it quickly sold, hole and all.
