32b head gasket help? Which one?
Hello experts! I’m having a hard time finding out which head gasket is best for my 32b 4 banger with a high compression ratio, winfield head. Any advice or can you share product links?, really don’t know what to buy. Thanks in advance.

Best brand 509G. It’s the GraphTite head gasket. If the head doesn’t have the 2 small steam holes in the middle then that’s the one I recommend.

I thoroughly recommend the use of a suitable gasket sealer when fitting any head gasket. Permatex Copper Form a Gasket or Hylomar are my preferences. Follow the instructions on the can and you won't have a problem.

Re: 32b head gasket help? Which one?
I have had no joy running non-metallic composition gaskets on my Model "B" engines. One has a 5.5:1 head and the other has a 6:1 head. The picture shows what happened when I ran a composition gasket with the 5.5:1 head. I only use copper head gaskets, Best 573C.

Re: 32b head gasket help? Which one?
Winfield heads, and most after-market heads, require the use of the Model A gasket, my choice is the Best 509 in copper. B blocks need the 4 small holes in the center line of the block plugged FLUSH with the deck. This is not to just plug the holes but mainly to support the gasket. I spray the gasket with silver paint, both sides, a light coat followed by a heavy coat, paint acts as a glue, copper coat never dries so remains slippery. e-mail me at [email protected] if you'd like more info.

I have had excellent results on many A and B engines using the Best gasket with Kevlar. I use spray Copper Coat as a sealer and install the head while the sealer is wet. I also clean the head and block with lacquer thinner to ensure everything is absolutely clean of any oil or grease. My experience, Chris W. |

Re: 32b head gasket help? Which one?
I doubt that is caused by the head gasket. I'd say that the head stud hole goes all the way through to the water jacket - it shouldn't. Some ham fisted spanner jockey has over tightened the head stud and broken out the bottom of the hole. I'd try removing the stud, sealing the thread, then re inserting it and re tensioning it.

Even some radiator sealer in the water would do.

Bob, are you also going with 60-65 psi on the water pump studs? Post #4.

So, what is your vote on the gasket for a Snyders 6.1 head. Snyders says they are all for the HC head. Do I want steam holes or not?

Re: 32b head gasket help? Which one?
I only use this gasket and pretty much have followed the same procedure CWPASADENA does to install. Believe it or not, that leaking stud and nut shown above could have been prevented with spray on sealant and instructed from BEST gasket. Definately do not use the premium gasket.

Re: 32b head gasket help? Which one?
My engine was a new rebuild and the cylinder head was new too. Flatness was not the issue. It was the gasket!
