Default engine lifting jig trip

I have one of those engine lifting setups that lift from the valley area.
I loaned it to a mate to refit the 48 engine I did for him.
He was a while getting it back to me.
He bought it back yesterday.
He told me,it was in the back of his ute out the front of his shop ready to drop off, he had fueled up the ute, and was talking to a customer on the footpath and had just left the keys on the front seat.
I woman walked past, said hullo and must have seen the keys on the seat, she walked up the road a ways then doubled back, got in the ute and took off,all the while my mate was on the footpath, only a 20 ft away.
he ran after her but she sped off.Great cctv footage.
All this was on the local news ,and she vanished in the ute.
Next day she was seen on cctv footage from a servo 300klms away knocking off some food, she then ran out of gas between Neebo and Mackay , and left the ute on the roadside ,getting a lift into Mackay.there she stole some stuff ,but this time the cops picked her up.
My mate gets his ute back, all the tools in it were gone, out of gas,BUT my lifting jig was still there,
Lucky me

It's a genetic thing with the Ozzies; it's in their DNA; it was a penal colony! lol.
All Ozzie jokes aside, you are indeed lucky.

Sold the tools for a bag of crack more than likely. Obviously the tool gods were looking after you in respect of the lifter.

Whoever was stealing/selling the tools probably had NO idea what that was. Glad the ute and the tool were recovered.

I've got nothing but good to say about Aussies. My G2 grandfather was there as a political prisoner in the late 1830's following the Upper Canada Rebellion. They taught him how to survey and grade road and canals. After he escaped on a whaling ship he made a small fortune with those skills developing Salt Lake City. Thanks again Down Under!!

the woman who stole the ute had just been in the grocery store up the road, she knocked of some stuff from their but got away.
she had two big bags of stuff but they got too heavy and she dumped them just up the road from where the ute was parked, when she stole the ute she did a double back around the block ,picked up the bags and hit the tow,

I just spoke to my mate ,the ute owner again today,he tells me the ute sat for three weeks on the side of the road ,and was only noticed by an off duty policeman.
Lucky.

Lawrie, that's a great story and glad it was a happy ending for you. Was her first name possibly "Bonnie"??
