I used Rustoleum black engine paint on my running boards and Lizard Skin on the underside to reduce pinging etc. from rocks and stones hitting the underside.

Easypoxy, a urethane one-part marine paint, might be a viable option for you. I've used it extensively for boat decks (walk-on) and it lasts through years of traffic and is simple to recoat if you ever need or want to. The stuff's not cheap, but you certainly get what you pay for.
