I saw the worst R code '64 Ford on eBay. A totally clapped out hulk, rotted to heck too. IIRC it went for $5k. |

I have a 57 Ford, and my tag is on the door too. The new rivits...that paint looks pretty good, so maybe it was simply removed for painting. |

Re: Fake 'R' code Galaxie?
If one has to actually know and willing to chase it down, I would start here -
https://www.fordfe.com/ EDIT - The participants in the above MESSAGE BOARD know the FE front to back. There has to be someone there that can either answer the question or point you in the right direction. There was a 427 GALAXIE REGISTRY but I cannot come across it now. Maybe FACEBOOK? There is a lot of fraud going on and even some sneak by outfits like MECUM. EDIT - (YES, ANOTHER) - Discussion of 63 1/2 GALAXIE ID STAMPING(S) - https://www.fordfe.com/63-5-galaxie-...ns-t99056.html Last edited by KULTULZ; 12-06-2023 at 08:43 AM. Reason: THE USUAL |

The hood bubble (necessary to cover HI-RISE CYL HEAD DESIGN) rear vents are meant to exhaust hot engine compartment heat. The air is delivered to the carbs via a frontal air intake system(s) (there were two styles). The HX (large case COM - LINC) AT was a DUAL RANGE 3/SPD. Supposedly (have to verify), only the 1964 FAIRLANE THUNDERBOLT got the HX. The 1964 FORD GALAXIE 500 LIGHTWEIGHT R-CODE got a mid-case MERC-O-MATIC . CORRECTION - The DUAL RANGE MID-CASE SIZE was ID'd as MX. SOURCE - https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...alaxie-500-54/
