Question Re: generator

Are you asking for a purchase source? Do you source your parts here (USA) or over there (Continent)?

... whew ...

Re-read Post# 16. That is a cover only. That is the correct appearance for your '56.

What shape is just your cover in? Is it decorated original FORD? You could use to buy the decal only and re-finish the cover for appearance.

Let me do a little research tonight and I will get back.

Here is a NOS regulator on E-Bay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-OEM-For...AAAOSwDKJc3xxD

I am not sure what vehicle the PN Prefix 000 applies to. It may be light truck.

I also found the decal which will allow you to refinish any cover to OEM specs. Most everything else is aftermarket.

Not to worry about translation. I still have trouble with the Queens English.

Do you mean the drive pulley does not turn freely?

IF it's just a few that rub slightly, they may have become bent during shipping.
With some luck they should be easy to straighten.

If he touches it, like trying to straighten the fan and something happens, they will not honor the warranty. He bought a reman. It should work out of the box.

Ok yes that's true.
How about contacting the seller, if it's a commercial retail parts establishment and follow their instructions on what to do with it. Likely needing a 'return shipping authorization' first. In which case 56yblock may be out that shipping cost. Or, they may send a pre-paid return shipping label in the box with the replacement. (like the new but dented radiator I just got)

Most of the reason I suggested fixing it (only if it's very minor) is it seems 56yblock is in a European country, the shipping time & cost may be more of a complication than it is for the rest of us.
.

That's what I would do. If shipping damage, let them figure it out.

Today's sellers seem to have very little consideration. It is make a buck fast and easy.

Look at the situation where the guy ordered a rebuilt carb and was sent a much later model that is going to require fabrication to fit not to mention re-calibration.

Best of luck with it.

I have traded messages with many Europeans and most have clubs and/or sellers on the Continent that make USA parts available. There was even one (Sweden?) that would fill a container with orders then ship. It cut down on shipping costs.

It is fairly easy.

This is where your SHOP MANUAL comes in handy.

Before going to that trouble... is it all of the fan blades that rub, or just a few?

IF it's only a few and they aren't bent too much I'd be tempted to straighten them before trying to change the pulley.
Put a large screwdriver or similar tool under the edge and pry the fan blade away from the face of the generator just a small amount.

A small piece of hard plastic, wood or cardboard (not shown in the pictures) between the screwdriver and edge of the generator casting will help protect the new black paint.

The tool you use must not damage the pulley. Some pulleys bend very easily.
