Has anyone on the forum used a Bob Drake 39 Ford Hood Arm & Spring Support? The part no. is 91A-16782/3 and want to know how well it worked for you. Thanks in advance. marv

That hood support is for a 39 deluxe will not work on a 39 std. I don't know the pt# for a std.

Marv, "39std" is 100% correct in his response.
You will see a few places advertise those supports as being for ALL '39 Ford passenger cars. They are NOT.
The 39 std, as you are no doubt aware used but one support, that being on the left.
It is not the same configuration as the reproductions.

Don't use that spring arm, it will damage your hood. I learned the hard way. Paul Selfe.

I was curious to see what that part number looked like, so I checked it out at Drake. It does say that it's for the 39 Deluxe. Then I checked Macs and they show that 91A-16802/3 fits the 39 Deluxe but that 91A-16782/3 fits the 39 Standard. Then I checked Carpenter and he agrees with Macs. Then I checked epay and saw this box with the part number.

I have a 39 Standard Sedan Delivery that I dismantled in the 90's and hope to build one day but I don't remember the hood support arm(s) at all. I hope I still have it somewhere. I'd certainly trust you guys before these vendors. Bob
