Default Re: How much oil from L to notch on dipstick?

The very very early cars and motorcycles were total loss systems where the oil was dripped into the engine and then was allowed to drip on the road. The hit-and-miss engines retained this scheme up until they went out of production. The cars had a set of adjustable drippers behind glass so that the operator could see how much oil was dripping into different parts of the engine. The early tractors had this system too.

Forget the brakes, they really don't work.
The clutch always sticks, and starts with a jerk.

Driving's a blast, a blast from the past.

I spent the last 20 years of my working career associated with universities, and it was amazing to me how many tenured faculty members (like Professor Volvo) became experts in not only the fields they studied but on other, unrelated fields as well. As far as I'm concerned, the older and wiser I get the more I realize what I don't know.
