Nice stash!

More and more auctions are adding 'Buyer's Premiums'. That stinks. Throw in states that are now wanting sales tax on top of that, and it really takes the fun out of it. Makes it not worth the effort. Last time I attended the Iowa Gas auction in Des Moines, (2002) and bought a gasoline globe, I was charged bidder's fee plus Iowa state tax. Never went back and never will.

Illinois has been trying the sales tax thing for auctions for the last ten years or so. They keep getting voted down. Auctioneers are fighting it. Hope they keep being successful.

Auctioneers are getting to be like politicians, just keep increasing taxes and then don't call it what it really is, namely a "BUYER'S PENALTY".

Yes, ...and fortunately South Carolina has a cheaper sales tax (6%?) than some other states but still, that is like adding 20% to the bid, only to factor in travel costs of the potential buyers. I suspect this will not deter it from being well attended. I also suspect it will not discourage the bidding either, but good grief, for what you bid on for $4.00 will actually cost you $5.00.

Sylvia & Junior were well known, and my family had the privilege of touring with them on several A tours. For some that attended the workshops I had at my place, they will remember Sylvia from being there too. Actually, she was the 'restorer' in the family and could capably do all facets of the restoration herself. I hate to see her leaving the hobby but I'm sure the timing is right for her.

I live pretty close to Sylvia. I stopped there a couple of months ago, while my wife and I were just ridding around with our '29 Roadster pick-up. Met Sylvia and her son. They are real nice folks. Sylvia, showed me all around her shop and garages. She did mention, she was going to shrink down her inventory. I will probably be there - Oct. 4th.

Look's like Hershey will be flooded with some nice Model A parts this year. This makes two Very Big sales the same weekend.

Yeah, if they called tax a 'sales premium' wonder how many would understand, just what it really was The word 'premium' always conjures up something better than the usual, something more desired.
