Default 28 - 29 Pickup top irons

Attached are photos of my main top bow for my RDSTR/PU. On those photos I have marked in near proximity holes of 1/4" diameter that were drilled for whatever reason. Those marks do not indicate the holes for the for side curtains, or for the two buckles that mount the bow to the stanchions. Are any of these 1/4" holes supposed to be there?

Also, if you have restored similar bows, what did you use as filler for the tack rails?

If you enlarge the photos you can see the hole locations as hash marks on the concrete.

Mike at Classtique Upholstery suggested leather belting to use for tack strips in the top bows. I haven't tried it yet but plan to on my 31 Roadster before I put the new top on. Has anyone tried this? Mike suggested to wet the leather to make it more pliable for installation.

Hi Russ I have restored several sets of bows and the holes you are referring to are ones that someone has drilled in there. Just weld them up. I have used waterproof interior cardboard cut in strips and slide it in the track with very good results that product will hold your tack nails nicely. It can be purchased by the sheet at any good upholstery shop.
