Default dished shaped flywheel

I have a question that's bothered me for years and maybe someone here can supply an answer. Years (and years) ago I had my '69 428 cj mustang flywheel surfaced because it had a very noticeable dish to it's surface. The machine shop said they had never seen one like that where they had to grind off so much to get it flat. But it seems that I read some where that the factory 428 flywheel did in fact have a dish shape to it. I would think that it should be flat but .....? I still have the ol' heap under wraps.Got married in it in 1970 and "yeah, I'm gonna fix it up one of these days"lol. Thanks for any comments.
Oh yeah, the ol' heap is the car, not my wife...just to clairify.

LOL. Yeah Don. I know. My avitar is my current project and the Mach I is next. Man I loved that car in it's prime. It's half apart and well covered and it'll get done by me or one of my nagging kids. My wife loves it too and wants it done before we are. Thanks, Rusty
