Default U-joint Cup-small hole

In assembling the u-joint cup, does the side of the cup with the small hole go down or up?

Should line up with a grease nipple [zerk] on the outer clam[s]. Some have one on each. Would put it at the top IF you can get to it. Coat a bit of grease between inner and outer when assembling and coat the uni in semi fluid grease too. I would use some good sealant along with the gaskets, once the oil from the trans starts making is way back there it will leak if everything is not perfectly flat.

All of the U joint inner cups, that I have, have two holes that are symmetrically located so that either of the two ways it can be placed over the U joint, there will always be a hole near the zerk fitting on the clamshell halves.

outer cover with the threaded hole for the zerk goes down on the RH side. The zerk is 90 degrees and can be reached from the bottom after final assembly.
