They were a Ford authorized accessory and bought at the dealership. Your choice for any Model A model.

Just remember that the motormeter just measures the air temp above the water.

Re: Radiator cap vs Quail vs Motometer?????
This is part of the design, it is made that way so it can react fast to steam-- if the sensing element was submersed in coolant the coolant would all have to be hot, the coolant can be below boiling except for one hot spot making steam

Re: Radiator cap vs Quail vs Motometer?????
REMEMBER, if your temp cycles up & down at regular intervals, while cruising, YOU'RE LOW ON WATER!!!!

Re: Radiator cap vs Quail vs Motometer?????
ronn,
Two ways to keep your Moto-Meter: always keep an eye on it and/or a locking radiator cap sold by the parts vendors. Bob-A |

Re: Radiator cap vs Quail vs Motometer?????
Moto meters are protected as their caps are securely held by Allen bolts screwed into tabs that secure onto the radiator.

Re: Radiator cap vs Quail vs Motometer?????
True but, the whole thing can twist off if one has a firm grip and strength.

My 98 year old uncle always kept the mm under the seat never used it as far as I know the first thing I did when started working on car is put it on every time we get in car he says dont leave that on there some s.o.b. Is goin to steal it! I laugh and say nobody knows what it is or how to take it off! Maybe I should be more careful! He had the top stolen off his A roadster 80 years ago!

1. Guard the cap 2. Distract them with a pretty face 3. Put a different cap on it that you can always replace
