Snyders modern valve kit
Has anyone used there modern valve kit & were you pleased with it? I'm trying to decide between orig style or modern. Orig style would seem to be a little easier to work on if there was a problem down the road.

Re: Snyders modern valve kit
I am not sure but I think these are the same ones I get from Antique Engine. I would never use the old style and am very satisfied with the modern type.

Re: Snyders modern valve kit
I just used a set of Snyder`s modern valve sets. the guides were a little to loose so I had them knurled to tighten them up. there are other ones out there that you have to drive in and from what I hear they like them better. my motor will not be fired up for a couple more weeks.

The Snyder's kit has a one piece guide that is about the same length and installed shape as the originals. This is the Snyder's kit. I have used two kits and in both the guides fit loose in the engine housing bore. I prefer and typically use the same guides as James that are distributed by AER. Re: Snyders modern valve kit
I too got a Snyders kit with oversize inlet valves.
When the valve seats were being recut and valve seat inserts being fitted for the exhaust valves, I supplied the engineer with the one piece valve guides to assist with cutting the seats. He sid they were too loose and so I bought a set of the friction fit one piece valve guides for him, When I enquired with Snyders if there was a fault with the valve guides, they replied that they were intended to be slightly loose and that they would self-align and that the valve springs would hold them in place, Whilst being slightly niggled at the cost of obtaining a second set of valve guides, the engineer claimed there would be better cooling by the valve guides being in contact with the block? |

Re: Snyders modern valve kit
I've used original type repro valves and guides and they worked fine for me.

Re: Snyders modern valve kit
The AER valves and guides work great . We have used them in hundreds of engines. The biggest advantage to them over the original style and the Snyders style, is more contact area. The good straight guides are much longer than those other guides, and ALMOST always go in tight. Some engines have worn out holes where the guides go in, which is why some guys have them fit to loose.
