Re: new distributor
Is there a difference ? I would think they all get them from the same supplier.

Re: new distributor
I got mine from TAM'S last week. Still in the box 'cause it's too darn cold to work in my garage. I took it out and looked it over. Everything looks good with no rough edges. Good luck.

Re: new distributor
I got mine from Snyders and it seemed remarkable value for money. It says on the box "Ford Official Licensed Product" but nowhere does it indicate that it was made exclusively for Snyders

Re: new distributor
I bought a new one from Snyder's (original style). It IS remarkable for the money. However, be advised- the wire between the lower plate and points wasn't the super flexible type it is supposed to be! Other than that, and the points cam needing to be polished before use, it was spot on.
The rebuilt distributor I bought from Bratton's did have the proper flexible wire already installed, but the points cam also needed to be polished before use. |

Re: new distributor
They appear to be machined from some kind of non-poured stock. But they don't have any polish on them after machining and will eat a points rub block real quick as they come.
It doesn't take long to polish them properly. After reassembling the distributor, I turn them on the bench without lubing the cam just to see if there's any drag. If so, back to the polishing until they feel smooth without any lube. After that, I DO lube them before installing in the car. Thousands of miles later, still have not had to readjust points except just kibitzing. |
