I have an 8BA in my 39 with the original radiator. Around town, no problem. On the highway it would foam over. Just like what you are experiencing.

Flatjack9–so switching to all water cured the foaming issue?

I think we just found the answer to the problem. Put in the coolest stats like 160s and I think you will have it cured. Tim

If theirs is any question whether you your Radiator is up to the job add a shroud ,this is with original fan this can give you 15/20% more cooling ,a extra row of tubes in the core could do it also .you would need to run thermostats to keep it up to temperature ,I run shrouds on all my cars its part of on going experimentation .

IMG_2522.jpgProblem looks to be solved!!
Installed 160 thermostats and Skip’s overflow check valve…and after a 10 mile trip with temp running around 160-165, pulled into driveway and parked it….and zero overflow!!
Will continue monitoring but so far so good.
Thanks to everyone who responded, and also to Tom Roche who provided guidance.
