Sound deadening material at Lowe's
There were some posts about material to deaden the sound in our cars. Someone said Lowe's had some, others also responded, but I cannot seem to find the threads about it. Someone please tell me how to find the correct threads. Thank you.

Re: Sound deadening material at Lowe's
Orcaslanding, The stuff I got at Lowe's was called Peel and Seal, I think. It's self adhesive, conforms to irregularities well. It is very similar to the Dynamat product, comes in 6" width. Is MUCH cheaper
Hope this helps Jim |

Re: Sound deadening material at Lowe's
use the foil bubble insulation designed for duct work, attic stud reflector, it generally is sold in two widths 24" and 48", I have used this on firewalls, glued to insides of doors, above the head liner, works as a sound dedener and as insulation

Re: Sound deadening material at Lowe's
I used Armaflex insulation on my '52 F1 and it is great - it comes in 3' x 4' sheets - 1/2" or 3/4" thick - easy to cut and work with - you can buy it at any HVAC supply house. Contractors use it to insulate A/C lines, etc. Good sound deadening quality!

Re: Sound deadening material at Lowe's
I believe it is Peel 'n' Stick. It shouldn't be used on vertical or upside-down installations. No problem with "melting" on the floor of my truck even in 100 degree weather.

Ross F-1 ...........................
What a cool avatar ! ..... How'd you do that ? I have used "PEEL & STICK" on my garage roof. It is very temperature sensitive. When it's cold, it will hardly stick. When it's hot, to what ever it touches, it's STUCK ! I can see it falling down, on an upside down application, in very cold temperatures. I don't see it melting and running. I have never seen that on my roof. It might have an odor in a closed space, like the inside of a car. Can't really say for sure. MIKE |

Left your signal light on again, Ross. If one door is always on the first latch and you wear a hat, you know what that means..... ..B.

Re: Sound deadening material at Lowe's
Bruno, I used Armaflex everywhere inside the cab of my old Willys pickup and it's quiet as a Buick. Almost. ..B.

Re: Sound deadening material at Lowe's
We used to joke about "never get behind anyone wearing a hat" because it usually meant a codger in a white Chrysler New Yorker with one door slightly ajar and left turn signal ticking, no hurry.... .......I guess it's not as funny as it used to be, come to think of it, but I haven't got the white Chrysler yet.... ..B.

Re: Sound deadening material at Lowe's
Believe me, the town I live in has plenty of those folks, although they seem to prefer a white Crown Vic with whitewalls, and like to drive with their lower jaw hanging open...
We'll get there, as long as the gas supply holds out! |

Re: Sound deadening material at Lowe's
The Peel and Seal is great on vertical or horizontal surfaces. I wouldn't use it above the headliner. It does NOT have any odor. It doesn't melt.
