Hey Chuck L., Great to see you're out on the road again. I find it a great pleasure to hang with JM... Or is that hang on to his dashboard?

More photos everyone!

Another fun day at the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville. This show seems to have doubled in size since the last time I attended.
We kept going back to the distillery for free moonshine samples as often as we could today. We just told them we knew Vic and they kept pouring the samples .
T shirts from '11 and '12 shows went on sale today at 3 for $10.00, so we all bought a bunch of them to take home for the family.
We leave Dahlonega and head for Maryland tomorrow morning.

Well, after another excellent adventure with my Flathead Friends, we are back home in Florida. Mike (Henry Floored) has the internet on his cell phone (too high tech for me) so he was able to post photos during the show. I will post a few that I took that aren't duplicates (I hope). The ride home was relatively uneventful except for one short bout with the dreaded (some say nonexistent) Vapor Lock, after a stop for gas. At the last gas stop, Mike noticed that the right rear tire looked low so we aired it up and continued on down the road. Once we got off the interstate we were stuck in some heaver traffic for several miles. We went over some rail road tracks and lost the right front hub cap... good thing I've got more because we couldn’t stop to try to retrieve it... This morning I went out to the '39 CS only to find that the right rear tire was flat... Oh well... At least she got us up and back under her own Flathead power, just a short 1,400 mile trip.
I want to thank everyone that took part in the Festival, especially those that went with us on the "Don't Follow Me, I'm Lost Tour". Gene (40cpe) mapped out the route we took and it was exciting to say the least. Back at Thunder Road we met Ken (Redneck) and his wife Barb with their “new” ’40 Ford Rag Top as well as some of the usual suspects like Kiwi Tony, Ken Alabama, Buster (Cushman Man), etc. This event is information overload for Ford lovers. Let me stop “jaw jackin’ and post some photos.
Here's Chuck L. enjoying the tour behind the wheel of my '39 CS.

In the lead, Gene in his '40 Coupe followed by JM in his '35 Sedan. I was too busy "holding on" with Chuck driving, to take any photos of the cars/trucks behind us…

It was a beautiful day for a drive in a Flathead...

Back at Thunder Road, this '40 Merc Coupe could be had for $21,000, I only needed an additional $20,900 to be able to swing it...

Here are Ken (Redneck), his wife Barb and their '40 Convertible.

I couldn't convince Ken to race me in the '39 CS for "Pinks"...

Although I tried...

Here's JM going back for another "free sample" of Shine...

Steve with his '55 F-100

Me with the '39 CS.

Chuck expressing his absolute "joy"… after sampling a Funnel Cake...

Kiwi Tony hard at work as the Ambassador of the Moonshine Festival and Mid-East representative of the "Cigar City Flatheads"... I wonder if visions of Flatheads were dancing in his head…?

Have you ever seen a more beautiful "rear end"?

Buster (Cushman Man) with his "just finished" '34.

Chuck & Steve relaxing in and around JM's '35 Sedan. Is that watter or "shine"...

That's it for me and my photos this year, I'm already thinking about next year. And, I'll make room for Bill Wzorek to ride "shotgun"...

Vic,
Well it sure looks like a good time for all. And the flatheads did their part of getting you folks around. Only sad note is I will now miss my daily cheesecake boost.

I do try to get around. But I cheated this time. I flew to GA to meet up with the gang. The Moonshine Fest has been on my to do list. Finally got it checked off.

I looked for you again this year and was only able to find your car
Had a great time and as was said " I've never seen so many 40 Fords (ish)
at one time before. Maybe next year I'll be lucky to drive my flathead and meet up with you guys.

Randy, sorry we missed you again. Hope to see you next year, or maybe you could drive the flathead down to Florida for the 2014 "Barner's Bash"... once we figure out if and when we are going to have it... Vic

We just pulled in to Salem, VA ( ~ 10 miles from Roanoke, VA) for the night. We took a short cut from Dawsonville that turned out to be 2-1/2 hours longer .
Forgot to mention the '35 is running like a scald dog and no more starter problems.

2 1/2 hours? Sounds like you should have gone back the way you came in. Over the mountains. Was it an easier route?

Well, Wow, what a car Show! I was hoping to meet some of the Barners this weekend, saw some of your cars and truck. Maybe next year. Ford definitely had a presence at this show! All of those 40's. That is a great show that everybody needs to see. I took a camera and was overwhelmed that I didn't even get 1 pic.

It was no easier than the route we came in on but took us 2-1/2 hours longer. My arms felt like they were going to drop off from all the hairpin turns. The good news is we got to see Dollywood and Pigeon Forge . Also, we actually found gas here in Salem, Va at $2.85/gal!!! Have not bought gas that low in many years.

Vic, I would like to attend at least a part of a "Barner's Bash" in Fl with my '50 Ford. I still need to drive it in 5 southern states to complete my quest of driving in all 48 states. However, i am having a knee replacement, probably in early Dec. and don't know if I could drive that much before March. We'll see.

I did not count the 40 Fords but there was at least 50 there. There was 378 cars registered for the car show. Not too many original cars. There were people frpm Calif. there. One car from Oregon there that I saw.

Cecil, we would love to have you back in Florida for the 2014 "Barner's Bash" (if we actually have it). We'll push the date to mid March if that will work for you. I haven't started to look at possible dates yet, still trying to get the Moonshine Festival out of my system... LOL Vic
