Default Really enjoying driving my model A

Went for a pretty good cruise today. I live in the country about 15 miles from town. First time I've took my Model A into town. I've been driving it around the country quite a bit. It sailed right on down the highway, found out it likes more timing advance at highway speeds. Got caught in a little rain but that wasn't any problem. Guess I did a good job putting the top on because it didn't leak. I stared with a rusty old car that had been outside since the 50's back in January of this year. Took it apart & sandblasted it inside & out. Replaced the wood & floor pans. Rounded up a bunch of used parts & some new stuff too. There is a post I made on here during the disassembly & putting back together. I'm not finished with the restoration but I'm going to drive it anyways.

It's your car and you put up the money and effort to bring it back to life. IMO, that means you have the right to wear the $%^& out again. You'll enjoy doing it.

Yes sir, same here! Those of us who are privileged to own antique automobiles know what it really means to enjoy DRIVING. With most modern cars, that aspect of enjoyment has been lost. Most "drivers" I see on the roads seem to be mindlessly guiding their vehicle to their next destination while engaged in other pursuits, such as texting, talking on the phone, searching for another song on the radio, or watching their navigation screen. They're really missing out on the real pleasure of "DRIVING".

Same here also. Been driving and restoring since the 60's. Nothing better than the sound of that motor . Learning how to double clutch shifting up and down without crashing gears. Enjoy the ride.

Nice job Robbie. I too enjoy driving my Model A. Right now I am really missing my Model A. It sits in my garage in North Carolina while I am in Arizona for the winter. I am going to get a ride in my friend's Fordor tomorrow.

In the photo, the rear passenger side window looks to be in the shape of a coupe.

I think there’s something special about a Model A. Several years ago, I purchased my father-in-law’s prized 1930 Chevrolet two door from my sister-in-law, about 16 years after he passed. The car was in great original condition, but hadn’t been driven in over 12 years. I squared away a few issues that the sister-in-law’s ex- husband had created, but never really enjoyed driving the car. I concluded that was because I’m a fan of open vehicles, so sold it and bought a ‘28 Model A RPU that was not driveable and needed rescue. The RPU is still a work in progress, but it’s a blast to drive! And I don’t think it’s just because it’s an open car. It starts up much easier than the Chevy ever did, and I love the engine sound. It seems to have much more character than the Chevrolet did.
