Default 32 Lake style headers clearance problems

Need help to solve the clearance problem between the Lake style headers and original steering box/column on a 32 Roadster (mostly original). Thank you for any suggestions.

Modify the rear tube and/or switch to an F1 steering box. The F1 box moves the column below the sector, so you gain some additional clearance for the exhaust.

Here are some examples. There are numerous other discussions on the HAMB regarding use of the truck steering box in a '32.

I think your going to have problems with those type headers even with a truck steering gear.
Here's an 8BA in a 32 frame with 56 Gemmer box. I was leaning toward lake headers myself, but figured it was too much trouble. If you make it work, please show me how you did it.
This is what I have with Reds Headers.

There is no good answer for your situation, unless the steering box is relocated

You are going to have to modify the header. Not much way around it that I can see. That is going to require re-doing the ceramic coating.

The curve in rear pipe of this header was originally meant to clear a '55 F-100 steering box on a '32 frame.

Superbird..It appears to me you have a F100 steering box rather than the original 32. Either way... the 32 and the F100 both have the worm gear on top of the sector. The earlier F1 box has the worm under the sector. The F1 may give you the clearance you seek. Using the F1 box will change the angle of the steering column/shaft to a more vertical angle. It moves the steering wheel a little lower and closer to the driver. I have a F1 box installed in a 32 sedan and I think the angle is more comfortable when driving.
