Default 1929 ford model a pickup question

did the 1929 ford model a pickup truck come from the factory with rear bumpers or was that a dealer add on?

No narrow bed PU had bumpers on them from the factory. I have seen some kludged up rear bumpers installed on pickups, but in my opinion they look cheesy.

Not a factory item. As well there were no bumper arms, the ones that come from the frame, available for pickups, so I would say no on the dealer option. People who have added a rear bumper have modified some bumper arms from another body style.

Judging from my 31 ccpu, "Rocky", that is what rear fenders are for.

Light commercial vehicles or pickups, didn't have much for rear bumpers till the 1950s. They still had single tail lamps too. This was common for most of the manufacturers of the day. This led to a large aftermarket business so folks could have a bumper and a trailer hitch. Even those weren't much to look at. Many were just a thick piece of angle iron. A bumper could limit how far the tail gate could be lowered and may have objections with a hitch ball.

Steamgas,
Mine has a rear bumper.
The guy who restored my 29 RPU many years ago, had to use a car frame, as that was all he could find at the time and the PU frame was shot. Hence the rear bumper on mine.

Chris, the the car and pickup frames are the same,no difference. So your truck is fine, nothing odd about it.Those bumper brackets will bolt onto all the light truck and car frames. They just need to be extended a little for the truck. If they are not extended the bumpers are under the bed.

Tks Keith,
I did not realise the frames were the same. Thanks for the heads-up.
