94 Carburetor rebuild advice
I took (3) 94 carbs off the shelf to rebuild. All 4 have the bottom shafts of the accelerator pump located in different positions on the shaft lever-referenced 1, 2 or 3. I figure some of those settings may be summer or winter references. 2 of the 3 carburetors have power valves with orifice holes of one size and the 3rd carburetor has a larger size. The kits I purchased have 2 size power valves. Can anyone suggest what the best setting is on the accelerator pump lever position may be and which power valve in the kit-big or little hole-would work best. Thanks in advance

Re: 94 Carburetor rebuild advice
Those "two power valves" you reference are not both power valves. Later 94's had an additional device mounted higher on the carb called a "spark valve". Most current carburetor kits include both. Although they look similar they are not interchangeable.

Send them out to Charlie NY, give him a heads up of what you have and desire and he will reply with a turn around time and ship them.
I have two recently re-built coming back the end of this week with some helmet distributors. Good luck and let us know how you make out with your project.. |

On top of that, the poor guy must be working 60 hours a week with all of these recommendations.

Re: 94 Carburetor rebuild advice
1, 2 & 3 are setting to make the carb a bit richer in cold weather. 1= very hot or summer, 2=avg temp and 3= extreme cold

Re: 94 Carburetor rebuild advice
OK-thanks for the advice on the latter model 94 units which feature a power valve looking device on the side. that explains the 2 units in the kit. How about the setting for the accelerator pump The lever is stamped 1, 2 & 3. The 3 carbs I I plan to rebuild have two which are set in '2' and one was set on '1' . Maybe Winter/Summer . Thanks again

Re: 94 Carburetor rebuild advice
What Denny...aka tubman says....7 days/week busy busy.
I'm certainly not trolling for more work but 94's are seldom brought back to good health with a kit. Before embarking on a rebuild scroll back thru MARTS GARAGE and find the episode where he preps a 94 bowl for use. 94's are very sensitive to vacuum leaks and you'll know real quick when there is a vac leak. Strombergs usually can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'....94's not so much. Charlie ny |
