I have never bought any springs but Snyder's started out manufacturing springs so they might know what their doin'. http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/history

From your picture one of your problems I can see is it appears you have your seat installed sideways.

I think their 'history' may be a tad skewed when it comes to seat springs because Arthur Howell actually started manufacturing the seat springs for antique automobiles ...and that portion of the business was purchased by Snyders when Arthur eventually retired. The sheetmetal side was purchased by his brother David.

The biggest "issue" I have with the Snyder's repro springs is they really are not 'exact' however they are the best available. The coiled wires are not the same diameter as original so they do sit a tad firmer. Again, most folks don't know the difference so they are fine.

Thanks for clarifying that Brent. Like I said I never bought any of their springs... And I'm one of those "folks that wouldn't know the difference", haha.

Brent, what's your thought about unpainted vs painted springs (Brattons are dipped/painted). Our weather here is like a rust incubator - salt air, humid and hot.

I found that there may be a vast disparity in the price of springs from one vendor to another. My suggestion would be to price these from several different venders and opt for the least expensive. As most folks have related, Snyder's makes virtually all of the new spring sets, so there should be very little difference, if any, from one vendor to the next. Good luck and happy hunting.

If it is rusting but you cannot see it, does that mean it really is rusting??

Just spray a light coat with a 'spray bomb' and call it done.

Unfortunately the two highlighted sentences are contradictory. I agree with the second one. Years ago when springs were also manufactured by Carlin, the first sentence did indeed apply (with good reason).

Sometimes shipping that they paid has to included in the pricing decision of the selling vendors. Order a lot of Snyders stuff and the shipping for the lot goes goes down so the shipping savings can be passed on the us.
